2. What Data do we collect about You?
2.1 Anonymous Data gathered while using our Websites
We collect anonymous data from every visitor of beatmydebt.com to monitor traffic and fix bugs. For example we collect information like web requests, the data sent in response to such requests, the Internet Protocol (IP) address, the browser type, the browser language, and a timestamp for the request. No personal details are obtained in this process and your identity is not revealed in any way.

We may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions both client and user information is typically one of the transferred business assets. Moreover, if we, or substantially all of our assets, were acquired, or if we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, client and user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party.
You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of us or our assets may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.
6. The Security and Accuracy of your Data

Once you have submitted it to us, we will keep the data we collect from you securely. We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed.

7. How Long we will Keep your Data
We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
By law we have to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they cease being customers for tax purposes.
In some circumstances you can ask us to delete your data. See section 8 below for further information.
In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it. We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.
8.4 Time limit to respond
We try to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. Occasionally it may take us longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.
9. How you can Complain about the way we are using your Data
You have the right to make a complaint about the way we are using your personal data at any time. Such a complaint should be made to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues.
